Gonzales and Dr. Clarafe Gonzales with the latter reading a paper entitled “From Project Proposals to Scholarly Journals: The Wesleyan Story.”
In another national seminar sponsored by the Pambansang Samahan ng Sikolohiyang Pilipino (PSSP) held from November 19 to 21, 2009 at Miriam College in Quezon City, two papers were delivered which centered on the theme: Pera, Negosyo at Sikolohiya: Pwede bang Magsama? One paper was entitled “Katiwalian” authored by Dr. Anselmo Lupdag, Dr. Priscila Santos and Jay Santos, faculty of the Central Luzon State University. Another paper were written by Dr. Clarafe A. A delegation of faculty and student researchers from the College of Management Administration likewise attended the conference to lend support and learn from the other presenters from other universities.
Finally, in the International Conference on Higher Education Research (ICHER) held from April 28 to 30, 2009 in Vigan City, two research outputs were published in the Book of Abstracts edited by the conference organizers - Dr. Clarafe Gonzales’ paper entitled “Productivity through Research and Publication: The WUP Story” and Engr. Rommel Simbulan’s research which was also presented in digital-video format entitled “Tech-FM Radio: Instruction and Research from a “Studio Booth.” The latter was deemed finalist in the category of Best Practices in Research. At the conference’s closing, an election was held to pick out officers for the regions and likewise for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao clusters. Our very own Dr. Clarafe Gonzales, research director was elected Coordinator for Central Luzon, making Wesleyan the center for Region III of HEI- members comprising the Philippine Association of Institutions of Research (PAIR) which is sponsored by ICHER.
More productivity is eyed for next year as our university became a member in several research organizations and consortiums. It is hoped that this will pave the way for even more national and international exposures and growth for our university researchers.
