Dr. Clarafe A. Gonzales, Research Director is the top winner in the 2009 The Outstanding PERAA Member (TOPM) awards held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City on October 22, 2009. Two other Wesleyan faculty made it as runners up in the same competition: Prof. Ruth C. Alfonso, first runner up (Teaching Category Level A) and Prof. Jacinta P. Corpuz, second runner up (Teaching Category, Level B). Also cited were outstanding participating institutions of the association.

Palomo was personally present to join family and well-wishers of the awardees. President Palomo that day attended the administrator’s conference and annual meeting coinciding with the 37th Annual Convention of the Private Educators Retirement Annuity Association (PERAA) which sponsored the annual search for outstanding private educators.

A multi-sectoral panel composed the Board of Judges for the 2009 PERAA TOPM led by Dr. Oscar C. Josef, former PERAA President. Among the previous winners of TOPM from Wesleyan are Dr. Rosie Capule, and Mrs. Zenaida F. Del Rosario.
