COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT
ABOUT COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT
The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management started as the College of Nutrition and Dietetics when in 1995 a restructuring in the College of Arts and Sciences was implemented where the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) was offered as one of the programs. Dr. Maridel V. Eslao served as its first Dean. The BSND was offered until Academic Year 2001-2002. With the changing needs of the time and demand for other viable professions, the program Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) was formally offered in Academic Year 2002-2003. This led to the college being renamed as the College of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (CHRIM). The BSHRM offered at WUP was the first in the country to be accredited by the Federation of the Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) through the Association of Christian Schools and Universities-Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) in March 2009. In the Academic.Year 2009-2010 the Colleges of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) and Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management were merged and became known as the College of Management and Accountancy. In 2011, two years after the preliminary survey by the ACSCU-ACI, the program BSHRM was granted Level I Accredited Status. Later, it was elevated to Level III Accredited Status. In 2012, the college added a new program, the Bachelor of Science in Tourism
Management (BSTM). This ushered in the new evolution in the college now known as the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM). In 2018, the BSHRM and BSTM programs were subjected to another accreditation by ACCSCU-AAI. The Hotel and Restaurant Management program was granted Level III re-accredited status from 2019-2023, and the Tourism Management program was granted Level I accredited status from 2019-2021. The BSND was revived in Academic 2021-2022. The College now offers three (3) degree programs.
