The Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) through the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities-Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) awarded Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) its Institutional Re-Accreditation Status effective from 2024-2028 during the ACSCU-ACI Annual Convention held on June 17 and 18, 2024 at Hotel Lucky in Binondo Manila. WUP was the only institution awarded Institutional Re-Accreditation Status in this year’s convention.
“This award is the highest accreditation level given to an academic institution by the Federation of Accrediting Agency of the Philippines (FAAP) through ACSCU-ACI. This is being awarded by FAAP to institution-members of FAAP-associated accrediting bodies in recognition of their commitment to excellence as manifested by the high percentage of accredited programs they offer and the high percentage of these programs that have a high level of accreditation,” noted Dr. John Jason Villaroman, Director of WUP Quality Assurance Office.
Currently, WUP has 59 accreditable programs from basic education to graduate level. Thirty-six (36) of these programs (61.01%) are accredited. Six (6) college programs (BEEd, BSEd, BA Communication, BA Political Science, BS Psychology, and BS in Nursing) have Level IV Re-Accreditation Status, the highest status granted to any college and graduate level programs. Eighteen (18) programs (BS in Social Work, BS in Accountancy, BS in Business Administration, BS in Hospitality Management, Master in Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Nursing, Doctor of Education, Master of Education (MEd) in Early Childhood Education, MEd in Filipino Language Education, MEd in Guidance and Counseling, MEd in Language Education, MEd in Mathematics Education, MEd in Physical Education, MEd in Science Education, and MEd in Social Studies Education have Level III Re-Accreditation Status. Four (4) programs (BS in Criminology, BS in Tourism Management, Preschool, and Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration) have Level II Re-Accreditation Status. The BS in Accounting Technology has a Level I Accreditation Status. Four (4) programs (BS in Medical Technology, BS in Pharmacy, BS in Physical Therapy, and BS in Radiologic Technology) have Candidate Status, and three (3) programs (BS in Computer Engineering, BS in Electronics Engineering, and BS in Information Technology) have Associate Status.
The majority of the students at WUP are enrolled in the programs with Level IV and Level III Accreditation.
According to Dr. Villaroman, WUP joined the elite group of ACSCU-member higher education institutions in the country that currently enjoy the same status. Among them are the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP), Central Philippine University (CPU), Philippine Christian University (PCU), Trinity University of Asia (TUA), and Silliman University.
WUP first received its 5-year Institutional Accreditation Status in 2014. In 2018, WUP received its 5-year Institutional Re-Accreditation Status. This status was extended until 2024. During this time, WUP was among the only 17 institutions in the country with the same status.
