Wesleyan University-Philippines is the only autonomous university in Nueva Ecija.

It is one of only 68 higher education institutions in the Philippines granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education. Only five private schools in Region III enjoy this status.

The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Accrediting Council, Inc. recently awarded WUP Institutional Re-Accreditation Status (2024-2028). This status was first attained in 2014. This award recognized the University’s commitment to voluntary accreditation as evidenced by a high level of program accreditation; its long tradition of excellence in instruction, research, and community service; the high performance of its graduates in licensure examinations; and for having an effective Quality Assurance System.

Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) was established on July 1, 1946, as Philippine Wesleyan College and elevated to university status in 1978. WUP exemplifies piety in learning in its brand of education, fostering a strong commitment to scholarship by culturing among its stakeholders the pursuit of academic excellence, devotion to culturing Christian character imbued with Wesleyan spirituality, and faithfulness to service to the community.In July 2024, WUP was accepted as an associate member of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This is dedicated to realizing the University’s vision of being internationally recognized for providing high-quality education. By aligning with the AUN Framework version 4.0, WUP would strengthen its educational standards and practices by following internationally recognized benchmarks set by the ASEAN University Network. It would ensure quality in instructional methods, research activities, extension programs, and overall productivity within the University.

WUP was awarded by CHED the Top University in Central Luzon at the Gawad Padyak Parangal during the 1st National Higher Education Day and CHED’s 27th Founding Anniversary Celebration on May 18, 2021. This award underscored WUP having the best response in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in higher education covering the period of March 2020 to April 2021.

WU-P is an active institution member of the International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges and Universities (IAMSCU), Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Asia Pacific Association of Methodist Educational Institutions (APAMEI), and the Philippine Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, Universities and Seminaries (PASMCUS).

In November 7, 2019, WU-P was welcomed by the Association of Christian Colleges and Universities in Asia (ACUCA) in its 24th General Assembly.

Wesleyan University Philippines has been accepted to the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities, the oldest private education association in the Philippines with over 200 member schools in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Wesleyan University-Philippines became a PACU member on September 26, 2020 during the during the PACU General Assembly and National Conference.

WUP maintains ISO 9001:2015 Certification from Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS-UK Branch. This is a testament to the University’s serious commitment to the continuous improvement of its management system.
