Genré -The Central Student Publication of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) debuted at the 4th Young Journalists Press Freedom Congress (YJPFC) with multiple awards in its first-ever participation in the regional press congress held at Priscilla Hall, TSU Hotel, Tarlac State University–Lucinda Campus, on August 29, 2025.Representing Genré were Ashee Herdellayne Duazo (Editor-in-Chief), Jazcentael Solano (Managing Editor of Administration), Ken Mark Torres (Multimedia Director for Layout), and Neil Jansen Castaneda (News Editor), joined by Prof. Aldrich Emmanuel Bondoc, standing in for their official adviser, Prof. Aloha S. Balbuena.

Despite being first-timers at the YJPFC, Genré excelled in various categories, securing the following recognitions:

The event, organized by the Association of Tertiary School Paper Advisers of Region III, gathered 390 delegates from 37 participating student publications across Central Luzon.

The YJPFC was organized to honor National Press Freedom Day, reinforcing the importance of press freedom and the critical role of youth journalists in shaping communities.
