Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP), in partnership with Pioneer Insurance, extended death assistance benefits to the families of two beloved faculty members who passed away last year due to chronic kidney disease: Prof. Ferman Lazatin of the College of Arts and Sciences (Political Science) and Engr. Jayson Paul Vicencio of the College of Engineering and Computer Technology (Electronics Engineering).
The family of Prof. Lazatin received the benefits on July 4, 2025, while the family of Engr. Vicencio received theirs on September 11, 2025. This support reflected WUP’s continuing commitment to care for its employees and their loved ones.
University President Irineo Alvaro Jr. shared, “We deeply mourn the loss of Prof. Lazatin and Engr. Vicencio. Their service and dedication to WUP will never be forgotten, and through our partnership with Pioneer Insurance, we honor their legacy by extending support to their families.”
Both educators were remembered with gratitude by the Wesleyan community for their faithful service and lasting impact.
This initiative was aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), as WUP upholds its responsibility to promote health, well-being, and social protection for its employees and their families.
