The Wesleyan External Systems, Connections, Opportunities, and Partnerships (WESCOP), in partnership with the College of Nursing and the College of Education of Wesleyan University-Philippines, successfully conducted a Tree Planting Activity on July 4, 2025, in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija. This initiative is part of the clean and green environment, a long-term commitment of the university to promote environmental sustainability, active citizenship, and community development.

The activity was facilitated by WESCOP, under the leadership of OIC Director Dr. Eufemia C. Ayro, in coordination with the faculty and students of the participating colleges, WESCOP personnel, and Extension Coordinators. Also joining the activity were members of GEM (Green Environment Movement), a university-recognized student organization under WESCOP that advocates for youth-led action in environmental care and protection.

Graduating students from the College of Nursing and the College of Education actively participated in the event with WESCOP staff and volunteers. Logistical support was made possible through the university’s transportation services, including two (2) coasters and one (1) van, with the generous support and approval of the University President, Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro, Jr., VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Wilfredo C. Ramos, VP for Finance, Dr. Marites A. Castaneda, and VP for Administration and Planning, Dr. Gladys P. Mangiduyos.

Prior to the event, WESCOP coordinated with the Office of the Mayor of Gabaldon to finalize the designated planting site. The Department of Agriculture provided 300 fruit-bearing tree seedlings, which were distributed to the student participants. Personnel from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) also assisted in preparing the planting area.

The activity opened with a devotion and orientation session focused on environmental awareness and proper tree planting techniques. Participants then planted a variety of seedlings, reinforcing their role as future educators, health professionals, and stewards of God’s creation. WESCOP personnel, faculty members, and extension coordinators ensured the smooth and safe implementation of the entire program.

All participants and support staff were provided with morning snacks and lunch, through the support of the university administration. WESCOP expresses its sincere gratitude to all university officials, the College of Nursing, the College of Education, and the student participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to the cause.

The Tree Planting Activity on July 4, 2025, reaffirms Wesleyan University-Philippines’ mission to foster environmental stewardship, community engagement, and faith-driven service. Through the leadership of WESCOP and the active involvement of the university community, this activity planted not just trees, but also seeds of awareness, action, and hope for a greener future.
