GUIDANCE SERVICES

COUNSELING
The primary aim of this guidance service is to give proper assistance to every learner in accordance to their needs, attitudes and values. It assists our students in dealing with their problems and enhancing their skills thereby make them efficient and effective learners.
TESTING AND ASSESSMENT
This guidance service is used to assess the students and employees performance for their placement and classification. It is also used to evaluate their mental capabilities, personality, interests and aptitude.
PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
It is a comprehensive dissemination of valuable information to the Wesleyan community. It may include activities like Seminars/webinars, trainings, film showing and community outreach.
STUDENT INVENTORY

This service aims to gather necessary information about the student, to know them better and serve as a basis for the development of an effective Guidance Program.

EXIT INTERVIEW

This service aims to gather necessary information about the different services that the student availed during their stay in the university. The data that will be collected can serve as an important basis for research and improvement of university services.

PEER COUNSELORS TRAINING

The Guidance and Placement Center continuously train students to become peer facilitators/counselors. They are considered as the extended arm of the Guidance and Placement Center to assist in various activities of the office. The trained peer counselors become members of the Wesleyan University-Philippines Peer counselors Association (WU-P PCA), a recognized student organization by the Office for Student Affairs.

VOCATIONAL/CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICE

This service aims to give assistance to our students in choosing, preparing for, entering upon and making progress in an occupation. It creates awareness and appreciation of the different stages of life and professional careers.

CAREER PLACEMENT SERVICE

This guidance service facilitates the student’s movement to the appropriate educational and occupational level or program; entry into the appropriate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; pursuit of further education or employment upon leaving the university.

PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The Guidance and Placement Center upholds its commitment to inclusive education through a dedicated program for students with special needs. This initiative is designed to support learners with diverse abilities in achieving a smooth and meaningful transition into the university environment, while addressing the academic, social, and emotional demands of college life. Grounded in the University’s mission to foster holistic development and compassionate service, the Center provides individualized support, accommodations, and guidance interventions that empower students to thrive. Learners who identify as having special needs are encouraged to actively engage with the Center for Counseling and Wellness, where a safe, respectful, and supportive space is provided to understand their unique circumstances and collaboratively plan appropriate support systems.
PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT AND CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES
In alignment with the University’s commitment to care, resilience, and community well-being, the Guidance and Placement Center delivers responsive Psychological Support and Crisis Intervention services. Guidance Associates, Guidance Counselors, and School Psychologists are equipped to address the immediate psychosocial needs of students, families, and special groups affected by critical incidents, trauma, or distressing life events. These services aim not only to provide immediate emotional stabilization and support but also to promote recovery, coping, and psychological resilience. Through timely intervention, the Center ensures that members of the academic community are guided toward regaining stability and continuing their personal and academic growth in a supportive and values-driven environment
INTAKE INTERVIEW FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
As part of its proactive and developmental approach, the Guidance and Placement Center conducts Intake Interviews for first-year students to facilitate their adjustment to university life. This initial engagement serves as an opportunity to understand the students’ backgrounds, concerns, strengths, and expectations as they transition into a new academic and social environment. Consistent with the University’s vision of nurturing well-rounded individuals, the intake process allows the Center to identify appropriate support mechanisms and interventions tailored to each student’s needs. It also promotes self-awareness, adaptability, and a sense of belonging, ensuring that students are guided toward a positive and successful college experience
