December 16, 2024, marked the start of a significant road and drainage improvement in the University. A groundbreaking ceremony led by President Irineo G. Alvaro, Jr., VP for Administration and Planning Gladys P. Mangiduyos, and VP for Finance Marites A. Castañeda was conducted on the road passing the Elementary School area, where the first phase of the development would be initiated.

After its construction, the road would be dedicated as Solito Toquero Avenue, in honor of the late UMC Bishop Solito Toquero, an alumnus of the University.

Before this, a contract signing between WUP and Balinagay Builders Inc. was held on December 13, 2024.

This project aimed not only to improve safety and enhance the road usage experience but also to tackle the perennial problem of flooding on the campus during the rainy season caused by the elevation of the roads surrounding the campus.

It was estimated that the entire project would be completed by March 2025.
