Dr. Jan Rainier C. Balaria, faculty member of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) programs of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP), received the Fellowship of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FFNMRCSI), on December 8, 2025, at Desmond Auditorium, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, Ireland.The FFNMRCSI, based on the document shared by Dr. Carissa Juliana Balaria, College of Nursing Dean, to the Public Information Office, is granted by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences to select nurses and midwives who have shown exceptional leadership, made remarkable contributions to their field, and demonstrated meaningful impact on healthcare and society.
Further, the document stated that recipients of this fellowship are nominated and confirmed through RCSI’s internal review and endorsement process, overseen by its Nursing and Midwifery Faculty and the Surgery and Postgraduate Faculties Board.
Dr. Balaria expressed gratitude to the University and nursing community, stating, “This achievement is dedicated to my alma mater and to every student I’ve had the privilege to teach. It stands as a testament that Wesleyan nurses are esteemed around the world for their competence, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Mabuhay ang mga Wesleyan nurses!”
He also expressed his gratitude to RCSI for the distinction he received.

Meehan, Nurse Theorist (2007), Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein of Jordan (2015), Dr. Judith Shamian, Past President of the International Council of Nurses (2019), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, World Health Organization (2020), and Dr. Amelia Latu Afuhaamango Tuipulotu, Chief Nursing Officer of the World Health Organization (2024), as listed by the RCSI.
