In response to the recent typhoon and widespread flooding in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija, Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) students and faculty participated in a Community Kitchen initiative organized by Dean Kay Ann J. Tongol of the College of Allied Medical Sciences (CAMS) on July 24, 26, and 27, 2025.
“With the help of donation funds, warm and nourishing homemade meals were prepared and distributed across barangays. This initiative aimed to provide immediate relief and comfort to those impacted by the calamity,” Dean Tongol noted.
The activity brought together members of the university from different departments. Among the participants were CAMS Local Council Vice Governor Erielle Tiburcio, Business Managers Seymour Lance Mateo and Leah Fernandez, Pastor Daffodil Cabales from the Wesley Divinity School, Mr. Rambert Pascual, Academic Coordinator from the College of Nursing, and Mrs. Freda Bernardino from the Senior High School Department. They were involved in both meal preparation and distribution, ensuring that food reached barangay centers and individual flood victims.
“This act of service reflects the compassion, unity, and dedication of CAMS in uplifting communities during times of need,” Dean Tongol capped.
