Wesleyan University-Philippines, through the Office of Instruction and the Quality Assurance Office, conducted an Echo Seminar on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and AUN-QA Accreditation Readiness on June 9, 2026, at the JJD Garcia Auditorium.

The seminar featured Dr. Marietta B. Agustin, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Mr. Kristoffer Ban Cabiles, faculty member of the College of Education; and Dr. Carissa Juliana Balaria, Dean of the College of Nursing, as resource speakers.

The activity aimed to strengthen the University’s accreditation readiness and support the continuous improvement of the quality of education it offers. It also sought to prepare academic personnel for the effective implementation of OBE and equip them with competencies aligned with AUN-QA accreditation standards.

In her presentation, Dr. Agustin emphasized the importance of systematic curriculum review and design, the establishment of clear learning outcomes, and appropriate evaluation methods to ensure quality education. She also highlighted the role of collaboration among various sectors of the University, including external stakeholders, in the successful implementation of outcomes-based education.

Mr. Cabiles discussed learning outcomes and the development of learners’ knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes (KSVA). He underscored the importance of constructive alignment among learning objectives, instructional tasks, and assessment methods to support effective learning.

Meanwhile, Dr. Balaria emphasized that teaching should focus on the mastery of competencies that prepare learners for real-life situations. She noted that OBE places emphasis on learning outcomes rather than solely on the coverage of topics.

The seminar formed part of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen quality assurance practices and advance accreditation readiness.
