Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) conducted its Curriculum Summit 2025 on May 30, 2025, bringing together faculty, students, parents, and industry partners to review and enhance the university’s current curricula.

The summit gathered a total of 176 participants, composed of four administrative officials, five parents, 36 industry partners, 20 student leader representatives, and 111 faculty members from the Basic Education, Tertiary Education, and Graduate School levels.

WUP President Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro Jr. opened the summit with a message to set the direction of the activity. Two invited speakers provided key inputs on curriculum development. Dr. Efren F. Abulencia, Education Supervisor II of CHED Central Luzon, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing collaboration between government agencies and educational institutions. Mr. Donato B. Chico, CESE, OIC Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Cabanatuan City, discussed the revised Philippine Senior High School Curriculum and its implications for learners and the labor market.

After the plenary sessions, participants engaged in breakout groups using the CIPP evaluation model—Context, Input, Process, and Product. Each group was assigned a facilitator and tasked to discuss and evaluate curriculum concerns within their respective clusters.

Dean Marietta Agustin facilitated the group representing the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Criminal Justice Education, and Wesley Divinity School. Dean Ryan John de Lara and Prof. Mary Berly Magueflor led the group of the College of Business and Accountancy, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and College of Engineering and Computer Technology. Ms. Loida Ramilo and Mr. Vincent Antimano facilitated the Basic Education cluster. Dean Carissa Juliana Balaria led the group for the College of Nursing, the College of Allied Medical Sciences, and the College of Medicine.

The discussion with the parents was facilitated by Dean Kay Ann Tongol in the university gymnasium. Student leaders gathered in Junior High School Room 1 under the facilitation of Dr. Eufemia C. Ayro. The Basic Education faculty met in the Elementary Library, led by Dr. Jaziel Naomi C. Reyes. Tertiary and Graduate School faculty convened in separate rooms, facilitated by Dean Lucille Grace C. Hilario and Dean John Mark Bondoc.

In the afternoon, each cluster presented its output, summarizing its observations and recommendations. Dr. Juanito Leabres Jr., Director of the Office of Instruction, delivered the closing remarks.

The summit aimed to collect stakeholder feedback to support curriculum review and inform institutional strategies related to content development, infrastructure, faculty development, process improvement, and student services.
