The initiative, led by University President Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro, Jr., initially targeted members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association (TODA) and was later extended to include their families and other interested barangay residents.
The services provided included PhilHealth Konsulta registration, doctor consultations, and free X-rays. The activity aimed to improve access to healthcare services and support increased enrollment in the PhilHealth Konsulta program.
According to https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/konsulta/, PhilHealth Konsulta, short for Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama, is a comprehensive outpatient benefit mandated under the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law. This program would ensure that all Filipinos have equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare services while being protected from financial risks. It was designed to safeguard individuals from chronic illnesses, enable early detection to prevent complications, and provide access to affordable medicines. Through this program, every Filipino is expected to register with an accredited PhilHealth Konsulta Provider of their choice, like WUP Hospital, where they can receive services such as consultations, health risk screening and assessment, selected laboratory and diagnostic tests, and access to prescribed medicines.
The recent activities in Cabanatuan City supported the implementation of this program at the community level, helping to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people.
