“The life of the flesh is in the blood…” – Leviticus 17:11
Wesleyan University-Philippines Hospital (WUPH), in a display of compassion and unity, spearheaded a bloodletting activity on March 27, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the CHTM Hall. This event was held in collaboration with Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC), the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), the UMC Northwest Nueva Ecija District, WUP Crisis Management Committee, and the University Clinic.Bearing the banner “Be a Hero, Donate Blood,” the event drew in individuals who chose to give not just a part of themselves, but a chance at life for others.
Ms. Rosemarie Barreras, WUPH’s Chief Medical Technologist and the main coordinator of the event, led the charge. She was backed by the full support of the WUPH Medical Director/Hospital Administrator, the Administrative Officer, and other officials.

In a gesture of leadership and solidarity, WUP President Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro, Jr., personally donated blood—an act that inspired many and emphasized the university’s commitment to health and humanitarian service.

The organizers extended their gratitude to all who participated, stating, “Your blood may seem like a simple donation—but to someone in crisis, it’s a miracle.”

The next bloodletting activity was set in October 2025. The organizers were extending their invitation to more individuals to participate in this cause.
