Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) took part in the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games held from April 4 to 12, 2025, in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Province, in which Ms. Janna M. Alindogan, a Senior High School student, won a silver medal in the Chess Youth Girls Competition.

The WUP delegation was led by Dr. Henry Cocoy Nacpil, Director of the Cultural Affairs and Sports Development Office (CASDO), along with Prof. Rambert Pascual of the College of Nursing, who served as the Head of Delegation. They were joined by the student athletes, coaches, and trainers, including Dr. Gener Subia, Head Coach for Chess; Prof. Jassel Mendiola, Assistant Coach for Chess; Prof. Paulo Alejo, Head Coach for Beach Volleyball; Ms. Gerika Ocampo, Head Coach for Taekwondo; Mr. Jonathan Cartagena, Trainer for Taekwondo; and Ms. Riyana Jhenne Antonyne Jeromie P. Hipolito, Head Coach for Lawn Tennis.

WUP’s representatives included Mr. Era S. Bauto from the College of Arts and Sciences, Mr. King Arckie H. Bactol and Mr. Aldwayne A. Pineda from the College of Business and Accountancy, and Mr. Frenz Jeremy S. Ramos and Mr. Renz C. Rangcapan from the College of Criminal Justice Education in the Chess Men’s category. In the Chess Women’s division, Ms. Claire B. San Jose from the College of Business and Accountancy competed. In Lawn Tennis, Mr. Allen Dayle A. Alvaran from the College of Business and Accountancy competed in the Men’s division, Ms. Atasha Theone M. Borlado from Senior High School competed in the Youth Girls division, and Ms. Xyrille Anne Sagnip from the College of Education and Ms. Wrens Faye Basilio from the College of Engineering and Computer Technology competed in the Women’s division.

In Taekwondo, WUP was represented by Ms. Ericka Dizon, Ms. Ifeoma Odinakachi B. Ezeigwe, and Ms. Kate Cassandra P. Nesperos from the College of Nursing, and Ms. Nadine R. Mueller from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Senior High School student James Henry Carpio competed in the Taekwondo Youth Boys category. Meanwhile, Mr. Christian Joe P. Belmonte from the College of Criminal Justice Education showcased his talent in the Vocal Solo competition. In the Beach Volleyball Men’s division, Mr. Dranred Clyde Espiritu from the College of Nursing, Mr. Francis Ashley B. Gines from the College of Engineering and Computer Technology, and Mr. Renz Dhaztine Roque from the College of Business and Accountancy represented WUP.

During the official send-off ceremony, University President Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro, Jr. emphasized the importance of strengthening the university’s sports development initiatives. He expressed his full support for the student-athletes and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing sports programs that nurture the holistic development of Wesleyanians.

“The university expresses gratitude to the City Government of Cabanatuan, headed by Hon. Mayor Myca Elizabeth R. Vergara, for their continuous support, which greatly contributed to the success of WUP’s participation in the National PRISAA Games,” noted Dr. Nacpil, CASDO Director.
