Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) joined the ARAL San Josenio Summit on July 30, 2025, held at Jesus Revival Church, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, in support of Republic Act No. 12028 or the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program Act, spearheaded by the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of San Jose City, under the leadership of Dr. Ericson S. Sabacan, EdD, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, and an alumnus of WUP.The summit gathered various education stakeholders to champion inclusive learning and academic recovery in the city. Representing WUP were Dr. John Mark F. Bondoc (Dean, Graduate School), Dr. Lucille Grace C. Hilarion (Dean, College of Education), Dr. Eufemia C. Ayro (OIC-Director, WESCOP), extension associates Dr. Antonio T. Tiglao, Prof. Jose Arsenio R. Adriano, and Mr. Christian DG. Navarro, and extension coordinators Prof. Jennifer M. Villalon, Prof. Ailicez Lucena, and Prof. Rolaila Delovino.
On behalf of University President Dr. Irineo Alvaro Jr., WUP expressed its full support for the ARAL initiative—an advocacy deeply rooted in the university’s core philosophy of Scholarship, Character, and Service, and its mission of “Building People, Transforming Lives.” This initiative aligned strongly with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, as it seeks to improve learning outcomes and ensure inclusive, equitable, and accessible education for all learners. WUP commended DepEd SDO San Jose City and all its partners for this collaboration and reaffirmed its commitment to working hand-in-hand for the future of education in San Jose City.
