Wesleyan University-Philippines upholds the bayanihan spirit amid the COVID-19 pandemic by distributing food and personal protective equipment to frontliners and giving financial assistance to barangays.

At the start of the enhanced community quarantine, the College of Criminal Justice Education led by Dr. Mercinario Santos, provided food packs to checkpoint frontliners. The Library Department led by Ms. Lourdes Sangil, also started packing lunch meals for frontliners at Brgy. Calawagan and giving bags of groceries to needy families, from the start of ECQ until present.

PPEs and other essentials were donated by WUP Academic and Administrative heads to the Wesleyan University Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC). The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) under the leadership of Prof. Mildred Abiva, together with the PIO Department, provided more than 200 breakfast meals to the frontliners at the WUP Hospital and Dr. PJGMRMC, as well as folders for making improvised face shields. The CAS was likewise joined by PLDT employees in distributing face masks for medical frontliners.

The WUP Hospital, Dr. PJGMRMC, ELJM Hospital, and checkpoint frontliners received cleaning and disinfecting materials, PPEs, and food packs for their frontliners, care of students of the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences led by Dr. Jason John Villaroman.

Bachelor of Nursing Block 3 Batch 2009 through the initative of Dir. Henry Cocoy Nacpil, distributed through the Alumni Office,200pieces of KN95 masks, five boxes of surgical masks,  six pieces face shields, eight sets of PPEs,and 110 packs of P1,500-worth of meals, diapers, wet wipes, milk formula and mouth wash.

Every week since the ECQ, the Senior High School Department care of Dr. Ester Reyes, has been distributing meals to garbage collectors and barangay officials/workers serving as frontliners. Another group from the SHS, led by Mrs. Mary Gene Banaga, donated 15 kilos of rice for every poor family and 2 kilos of powdered milk for families with infants in District 6 and District 4 of Bantug, Talavera. The Elementary Department led by Rev. Remy Dela Cruz, cooked soup for families of Brgy. Aduas Norte. Mrs. Rio Anne Dizon of the CCD and Elementary Department prepared food packs for families at Macatbong area.

Meals were also provided to frontliners at Palayan City and Good Samaritan Hospital by the Guidance Office led by Ms. Kimberly Jhoy Agustin and WUP alumni. The College of Education through the initiative of Ms. Lorelie Arocena, distributed meals to frontliners and bags of groceries to needy families at Barangay Bacal 1 to Umagan.

The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management’s Ms. Roselia Nunez gave financial assistance to less privileged families in Brgy. Santiago and Aliaga.

The College of Business and Accountancy, led by Prof. Luzviminda Bondoc, has been providing meals, lemon, ginger, tea bags, and other essentials to a Covid-19 positive patient.

Rev. Remy Dela Cruz of the Elementary Department holds a feeding program for children of less fortunate families.
