The Women’s and Men’s Chess Teams of Wesleyan University-Philippines concluded their respective tournaments in the PRISAA Regional Games 2023 with a commanding passion. Both teams emerged as champions in their own divisions. With this, WUP was hailed as the overall champion in the Chess Competitions.The members of the Women’s Team include Christine Mae Gamboa (CBA), Micah Serrano (CBA), Queen Juliet Besa (CONAMS), and Sheena Princess Bon (CECT). While Era Bauto (CAS), King-Wilfred Silverio (COED), Joshua Navarro (CBA), and Crisjohn Paolo Vilar (CECT) comprised the Men’s Team. Dr. Gener Subia, a faculty of the College of Education, father, and coach to Meg Subia, RP Team Member for the upcoming ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship in Thailand, served as these teams’ coach.
The WUP Chess Teams will represent the Central Luzon Region in the National PRISAA in July in Zamboanga.
