Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) achieved another milestone in research productivity through the publication of faculty and staff studies in internationally indexed and peer-reviewed journals, including Scopus-indexed and Asian Citation Index–listed outlets.

In line with the approved research incentive policy of WUP, researchers whose works were published in these recognized journals were entitled to monetary incentives administered by the Research Development and Productivity Office (RDPO). This incentive program was approved by WUP President Dr Irineo G. Alvaro Jr. and the Board of Trustees, chaired by Atty. Juanito R. Carlos.

“WUP’s expanding international research output reflected the University’s commitment to academic excellence, institutional development, and global relevance. The published studies contributed to the enhancement of academic quality and operational systems, including analyses of licensure examination performance, improved assessment frameworks, digitalization of library and reporting systems, facility management evaluation, and the assessment of the one-stop-shop enrollment process,” noted Dr. Gener Subia, RDPO Director.

Equally noteworthy were research works that emphasized social relevance and community engagement, covering areas such as child protection awareness, indigenous knowledge systems, psychological well-being of nurses, behavioral concerns among young learners, financial literacy for partner communities, the impact of sports scholarships, and graduate employability.

Studies on sustainability, unionism, and policy development further highlighted WUP’s role in advancing evidence-based governance and societal development. Collectively, this growing body of work highlighted a dynamic and maturing research culture in the University.

In closing, Dr. Subia expressed his appreciation to the 78 researchers for their 21 published studies, emphasizing that these scholarly achievements were instrumental in helping WUP to sustain its autonomous status and advance its goal of recognition as a Times Higher Education (THE) member institution.
