The Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) delegation joined the Fulbright Information Session on September 27, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, Clark, Pampanga, to explore international opportunities for education and research.

Representing WUP were Prof. Rio Anne Dizon, Director of the Office for Internationalization and Linkages (OIL) and Head Executive Assistant of the Presidential Management Team; Prof. Crystalyn Galindo, Director of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA); Dr. Jaziel Naomi Corpuz, Director of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office; and Prof. Emmanuel John Pangan, Executive Assistant to the President.

The Fulbright Program, widely regarded as one of the world’s premier international exchange initiatives, offers scholarships, research fellowships, and professional development opportunities to educators and institutions.

Prof. Rio Anne Dizon highlighted how this engagement supports WUP’s vision for internationalization.

“The Fulbright Program opens so many doors for our faculty and staff—whether through graduate studies, research, or knowledge exchange with experts. For us at WUP, it’s not just about sending people abroad; it’s about bringing back expertise and fresh perspectives that can strengthen our academic community. We strongly encourage our faculty and staff to submit applications and seize these opportunities. At the same time, WUP will definitely take this chance to invite a Fulbright expert to work with us, especially in advancing our institutional priorities that are always aligned with national and global educational goals for nation-building,” she shared.

This initiative directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting access to lifelong learning and academic advancement, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening global linkages. By engaging with Fulbright, WUP affirms its role as a catalyst for transformative education, preparing Wesleyanians to become leaders and changemakers in both national and international contexts.

The WUP team expressed enthusiasm about expanding opportunities for faculty and staff development, noting that participation in programs like Fulbright reinforces the University’s mission of scholarship, character, and service, while preparing Wesleyanians to engage meaningfully with global communities.
