The Wesleyan External Systems, Connections, Opportunities, and Partnerships (WESCOP) spearheaded the VeggiEskwela Online Training Completion Ceremony on September 26, 2025, at the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management Function Hall to recognize the 16 non-teaching personnel of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) who completed the training program conducted in partnership with the East-West Seed Foundation, Inc.

“The five-week training, held from July 30 to September 3, 2025, equipped participants with practical skills in sustainable vegetable production, enhancing their capacity to contribute to both personal development and community service initiatives,” explained Dr. Eufemia C. Ayro, WESCOP OIC-Director.

She also highlighted the training as a milestone not only for the completers but also for the university’s ongoing commitment to scholarship, service, and character.

The event was attended by Dr. Wilfredo C. Ramos, Vice President for Academic Affairs, College and Department Extension Coordinators, and representatives from East-West Seed Foundation: Ms. Joyce Gaviola, Ms. Divine Rivera, and Ms. Princess Mananghaya, who expressed pride in the completers’ achievements.

The 16 completers included Jose Arsenio R. Adriano (WESCOP), Justice M. Arellano (OSA), Eric T. Batalla (Printing Office), J.V.D. Buenaventura (Divinity School), Edmond B. Concepcion (Radio Wesleyan), Marienelle V. Dayao (Main Library), Shaleiann Janees G. Felesco (Elementary Library), Carleen O. Mata (GPC), Christian D.G. Navarro (WESCOP), Joel C. Piring (President’s Office), Jenny B. San Jose (Library), Leamor S. Serrano (CHTM) • Mary Jane B. Solevires (GPC), Zia Jazzriel Soverano (Main Library), Antonio T. Tiglao (WESCOP), and Sunny Rose T. Tumale (High School Library).

This event formed part of WUP’s 80th Founding Anniversary celebration, with September recognized as Outreach and Extension Month.

It also contributed to the global pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, by advancing sustainable agriculture and food security. It further aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, as the training supports lifelong learning and skills development. Moreover, the initiative underscored SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening collaboration through WUP and East-West Seed Foundation’s shared mission.
