To help parents navigate the needs of Gen Z and Gen Alpha learners, the WUP Elementary hosted the “Parents’ Forum: Seminar on Parenting Strategies Appropriate for Gen Z and Gen Alpha” on September 4, 2025, at the Jose, Justina, Dominga Garcia (JJDG) Auditorium.

The seminar aimed to bridge the generational gap between parents and children, promote healthy family dynamics, and equip parents with effective tools for discipline, motivation, and emotional support. It also emphasized resilience, empathy, and responsible digital citizenship as essential values in child development.

“It is designed to explore evidence-based, practical, and adaptable parenting strategies that resonate with the values, challenges, and psychological profiles of Gen Z and Gen Alpha. It will help parents, educators, and caregivers understand the key differences in communication styles, learning preferences, emotional development, and social influences affecting these generations,” Dr. Cristy M. Fernando, Elementary and Preschool Principal, stated.

The resource speaker, Ms. Emily Vizcarra—known as ‘Teacher Emily’—shared her expertise in early childhood and special education, drawing from her training at the University of Santo Tomas and her Master of Arts in Special Education from De La Salle University Manila.

“There was a research na nagsabi na ang mga short clips sa ating social media na na-expose sa mga kabataan. That is the main reason bakit maikli na ang kanilang attention span [ng mga bata], kasi gusto nila na mabilisan lahat, na natatapos agad,” as she directed the parents’ and teachers’ attention to factors that affect these generations’ learning and attitude.

This was followed by an open forum facilitated by Ms. Trishia Camille S. Diwa and Ms. Patricia J. Bondice, who also served as masters of ceremony.
The event highlighted the importance of equipping parents with tools to nurture resilient, empathetic, and digitally responsible learners in today’s fast-changing world.
