Quality Assurance Office (QAO) of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) visited the Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges (MVGFC) on August 5, 2025, in response to a formal request for consultation. The meeting aimed to assist MVGFC in its efforts to establish a foundation for quality assurance and to pursue ISO certification, following the recent formation of its own QAO.

The visit aligned with the directive of University President Dr. Irineo G. Alvaro Jr. to foster collaboration, mentoring, and camaraderie among educational institutions. As an autonomous university and an advocate of quality in education, WUP recognized its responsibility to extend support to fellow institutions—especially those striving to strengthen their internal quality assurance systems.

During the session, the WUP QAO shared best practices and valuable insights on the development and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS). Key discussion points included effective leadership and organizational structures, preparation strategies for ISO certification, risk-based analysis, and navigation of both local and international accreditation processes. The team also emphasized the importance of managing documented information and ensuring accountability in delivering outcomes-based education.

WUP held ISO certification at the institutional level, accredited by both the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The WUP team also highlighted the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Framework (IQAF), which underpinned continuous improvement, service excellence, and the strategic role of the QAO in enhancing quality standards across all university operations.

The consultation was attended by MVGFC’s QAO team, led by Dr. Angeli Reyes, along with Engr. Kevin Dayag and Engr. John Paul Mercado.
As an associate member of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), WUP demonstrated its commitment to contributing to the academic sector’s learning and development. By providing access to valuable information and resources on quality assurance, WUP enabled other institutions to improve their own practices and strengthen their internal systems.

This engagement also served as an extension service of WUP, reflecting its continuing dedication to promoting academic excellence, collaboration, and shared growth within the Philippine higher education sector.
