Dr. Adahlia T. Basco, alumna and Adjunct Faculty of the Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) Graduate School (MAN–DL), received “Ang Ginintuang Ilaw: The Nightingale Award for Filipino Nurses” in Arabia, a prestigious recognition honoring outstanding Filipino nurses in the Middle East, on November 28, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Riyadh.
The award recognized her exceptional contributions to nursing practice, leadership, and innovation, including her continued dedication to advancing evidence-based practice (EBP) and research.
“Currently, she is affiliated with Security Forces Hospital–Dammam, where she serves as Nursing Quality/Evidence-Based Practice and Research Coordinator, supporting initiatives that strengthen clinical standards and promote research utilization in healthcare delivery,” shared Prof. Judiliza G. Velayo, University Nurse and Dr. Basco’s friend and former colleague at WUP College of Nursing.
She earned three degrees from WUP: a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1990), a Master of Arts in Nursing (2008), and a Doctor of Education (2013).
She previously served the University as Nursing Department Faculty and Related Learning Experience (RLE) Coordinator from 2004 to 2014 and continued to contribute to nursing education through her current teaching role in the Graduate School.
The awarding ceremony was graced by the Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hon. Raymond Balatbat.
