WUP Joins WSAP International Conference 2025; Strengthens Gender AdvocacyDemonstrating Wesleyan University-Philippines’ (WUP) commitment to gender-responsive education, Dr. Jaziel Naomi C. Reyes, OIC-Director of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, joined the Women’s and Gender Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP) Annual International Conference 2025 held on November 13–14, 2025, at UP Cebu.

The conference brought together researchers, educators, advocates, and policymakers from across the country to rethink and advance the gender discourse in the Philippines.

The conference focused on integrating research, policy, advocacy, and community perspectives to foster collaboration and strengthen gender-responsive practices across various sectors.

According to Dr. Reyes, this would provide WUP access to updated gender research, best practices, and policy insights essential for strengthening the University’s GAD compliance.

“This event is significant to the University because it provides updated gender research, best practices, and policy insights that will strengthen WUP’s GAD compliance, improve gender-responsive teaching and curriculum, support accreditation needs, and expand partnerships with national gender institutions. It will also enhance WUP’s capacity to lead in gender advocacy within Region III and enrich its programs in education and Christian formation,” she explained.

With gratitude, she concluded, “This conference has been an eye-opener for me. It made me realize that there is still much to be done at our University regarding its Gender and Development programs. I am grateful for the experience because I have met significant people who are willing to help me create and establish GAD programs and policies.”
