The Legal Education Board (LEB) concluded its three-day Workshops on Academic Legal Research Methodologies for Law Professors held from October 21 to 23, 2025, reflecting the Board’s continuing commitment to enhancing Philippine legal education through sustained faculty development and capacity-building programs.Representing the John Wesley School of Law and Governance (JWSLG), Associate Dean Darren J. Gonzales, LLM, and Atty. Reena Clarisse A. Carlos, Professor of Legal Research and Writing, participated in the workshops. Their involvement underscored Wesleyan University-Philippines’ (WUP) dedication to academic excellence, legal innovation, and faculty empowerment.
The workshops brought together law professors from various institutions across the country for intensive sessions on doctrinal and non-doctrinal legal research, empirical methodologies, and interdisciplinary approaches to legal inquiry. Participants also engaged in discussions on ethical standards in legal writing, research design, citation practices, and strategies for scholarly publication. These sessions aimed to equip legal educators with the knowledge and tools needed to produce rigorous, socially relevant, and globally attuned academic research.
The participation of Wesleyan’s JWSLG faculty reflected the University’s mission to advance the frontiers of legal research and education. By taking part in national initiatives such as this, Wesleyan continues to bridge theory and practice while fostering a scholarly culture that contributes to justice, governance, and nation-building.
